Founder and Formulator of INKUH
Dr. Margaret Adjei, PharmD, RPh, is a pharmacist and the founder and formulator of INKUH, a Black-owned skincare and haircare company based in Texas. She personally develops INKUH’s formulas and selects the oils, butters and botanical ingredients used across its product range.
Her work at INKUH brings together her pharmacy background, personal experience as a mother and respect for traditional ingredients.
Professional Background and Credentials
Dr. Adjei earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University in Queens, New York. Her professional experience spans community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy and informatics.
She serves on the Texas Department of State Health Services HIV Medication Advisory Committee. She is also listed as a community-based pharmacist among UT Health San Antonio’s HIV/HCV ECHO team members.

Why She Created INKUH
The inspiration for INKUH grew partly from Dr. Adjei’s experience caring for a daughter born prematurely at 27 weeks. Concerns about her daughter’s delicate, dry skin during neonatal intensive care left a lasting impression.
Conversations with patients about everyday dryness and skin discomfort reinforced her interest in skin care beyond the prescription counter. Those experiences helped shape INKUH’s focus on thoughtful formulation and informed product choices.

Formulation Philosophy
Dr. Adjei’s approach begins with the purpose of each product. A cleanser, moisturizer and conditioner have different jobs, and their formulas should be evaluated accordingly.
She combines her pharmacy knowledge with an interest in ingredients such as shea butter, plant oils and botanical extracts. The emphasis is on the complete formula rather than treating a single featured ingredient as proof of a finished product’s performance.
Pharmacist-formulated does not automatically mean clinically tested, suitable for every skin type or intended to treat a medical condition.
